Education
The School of Architecture, ARQPOLI, provides each student an opportunity to grow knowledgeable in the theoretical, technical, social, cultural, and practical aspects of the profession, and thus be able to enter and excel in the field. Towards such end, our balanced curriculum is both structured and flexible. It includes core professional courses, liberal arts, sciences, and mathematics, focusing on representational, verbal and written skills. The field of architecture requires the command of architectural design, theory, history, technology, structures, representation, and programmatic and pragmatic aspects related to practice. The student’s understanding of Architecture, upon completion of the minimum graduation requirements, combines a broad social, cultural and technical foundation. Our program prepares students to face situations of considerable complexity, comprehensiveness and social responsibility, at the same time allowing for personal interests to mature in individually chosen fields. The curriculum integrates initiatives in Architectural Conservation, Urban Planning, Sustainability, and Community Outreach. Graduates of the program are thus expected to operate in a multidisciplinary approach to Architecture.
The Civil Engineering Technology program at the Puerto Rico Institute of Technology has as its fundamental purpose the preparation of professionals capable of meeting the highly sophisticated, complex, and ever-changing needs of the construction industry. To achieve this, it employs innovative teaching strategies that combine theory with practice, resulting in graduates equipped with the skills and abilities necessary to support the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of both current and future infrastructure. These efforts contribute to the development of leaders who guide our country toward prosperous, sustainable, and cutting-edge growth.
Work & Experience
As an architect at Misla Villalba Ingenieros since 2005, I have been responsible for the design and drafting of construction documents for residential, historical, and urban planning projects. My role includes integrating multidisciplinary engineering inputs into architectural solutions, ensuring code compliance, and supporting permitting processes. I have also contributed to solving complex technical and design challenges, while collaborating closely with consultants and project teams to deliver efficient and high-quality architectural outcomes.
While studying architecture, I worked at Hernán González y Asociados from 2002 to 2005, where I supported the design team with technical drawing and drafting tasks. During this time, I collaborated on the development of construction documents and contributed to design solutions for various projects, gaining valuable hands-on experience in architectural practice early in my career.
